"Angelic Sky" 11x14 Oil on masonite, SOLD
I had a dream of the most colorful and beautiful sunrise I had ever seen, with angels starting to fly from the sun. I awoke wanting to recreate the image, but knew I would not be able to come close to the colors I saw in that dream. This is my rendition.
"Mom's Lungs" 15x21 Oil on heavy watercolor paper. $235 unframed
I painted this the summer after my mom died. The image of her lying in her hospital bed, hooked up to machinery was burned into my mind. She had a laundry list of problems with her lungs since she was born with bronchiectasis. She began having bouts of pneumonia as a young girl. Each time she had it, her lungs would become more damaged. Eventually, her lungs developed holes and they elongated like oxygen bottles to try to create more surface area to absorb oxygen. Losing her, my life became a desolate wasteland with no happiness to be found. Her bruises float in a desert around her elongated lungs, with tubing and her cannula running in and around the lungs.
"First Breath" 25"x34"Oil on canvas $400.00 unframed
I began this painting the summer after my mom died. I was reading a book and a line from it said, "Her last breath on earth was her first breath in heaven." It inspired me to paint what my mom may have seen after she said goodby to my family and closed her eyes to this life.
"Tufted Ducks" Watercolor $200.00 framed
I painted this when I was doing artwork for Ducks Unlimited. I had been inspired by the Nebraska Artist Neal Anderson's paintings of wildlife and wanted to become better at using watercolor.
"Fearfully and Wonderfully Made" 16x20 Oil on canvas
I painted this in response to the senseless killing of unborn children. A child is a child from the moment of conception. We are knitted together by God's own hand.
"Aspens" 24x48, Acrylic on masonite (Unavailable)
I love the colors of fall and aspen trees are especially interesting with their textured bark. This was a gift for my sister in law.

"Loved Ones Gone By" 16x20 Acrylic on masonite, SOLD
This was a commissioned work to paint favorite pets who had passed on.
"Life in a Bubble" oil on canvas 21x27.5 $720.00 framed
This was a painting I did the year after my mom died. She had told a friend of hers she "didn't want to live life in a bubble" when her friend told her she couldn't go out anytime she pleased and shop or do whatever. Mom lived life to the fullest, traveling with dad as long as her health allowed her to, never complaining when she was sick, always looking for the good in life and the people around her. This painting speaks to a life unlived. This woman has all her things around her but the faraway look in her eyes shows us she is dreaming of what used to be and not living for today. The window shows a beautiful sky outside, but this woman sits in her dark room, holding onto things of the past even though they have deteriorated. We must live life NOW. We only get one.
"Time" 15x21 Oil on heavy watercolor paper $235 unframed
Time marches on for all of us. We cannot hold it back. On the left is the figure of health and youth, the right figure is beginning to decay (green) and the musculature is not defined. His hand is placed on a skeleton symbolizing that eventually, we will be gone.
"Flaming Flower" 22"x28" Oil on canvas board $480 framed
I wanted to do something on the spur of the moment with this. With no preliminary drawing, I vigorously painted flaming colors surrounding a bright center.

"Greater Scaup" Watercolor $150.00 framed

"Summer's Gone" 16x20 Acrylic on canvas $75.00 unframed
"Vibrant Flower" 24" x 48" Oil on masonite. $500.00 framed
This was a fun work in oil. I loved enlarging the flower image and focusing strictly on color. There is no use of black in this painting, only color.
"Dark Entry" pencil
I did this drawing as a response to what I had grown up fearing. A small child crawling into a large empty space and getting shut in was always something that made my insides quiver.
"The Hunters" 16x20 pencil SOLD
I was unable to get a photo of this drawing when I finished it so I had the owner take a picture of it and send it to me.
"Red Tailed Hawk" pencil (Unavailable)
This is another gift drawing for my brother.
"Clint" 20x24 pencil (Unavailable)
This was a fun drawing to do. I really started to get into the wrinkles and various tones of the 3 different faces of Clint Eastwood. I did this as a gift to my younger brother.
"The Hobbit" pencil 9.5"x24" $348.00 matted
This was a joy to do. I am a huge Hobbit fan and loved all the textures and positions of the characters.
"Thorin Oakenshield" pencil 12.5"x18.25" $395 matted
Right on the heels of the Hobbit drawing, I did this one of Thorin. I love the texture in his face, hair, and attire. After posting this one, I got requests to draw Legolas. I have not gotten to that one yet. Too many other projects in the works.
"Father and Son" pencil 11x14 SOLD
This was a commissioned work done for a man in town who lost his wife back when his son was very young. This picture always brought back good memories of when they were all together as a family. It was a special drawing to do and meant a great deal to me.
"Mountain Man" pencil 16x20 SOLD
This drawing took the longest of all I have ever worked on. It was also the most challenging. It was a commission by a classmate of mine who loves to black powder hunt. He wanted a drawing of himself in all his regalia. I loved doing it for him and enjoy that he loves his drawing.
"Hot Summer Day" pastel on paper 17.5x20.75 $100
This was a different way to approach drawing for me and I loved using the different colors in a painterly kind of way. I use it as an example in my art classes so students can see how they can work with pastel.
"Gentle Look" 9x12 pencil SOLD
"Heroes of the Old West" 20x24 pencil (Unavailable)
I did this when I really started to focus more on portraiture. This was fun for me because my dad was familiar with all these old western heroes. I gave it to him as a gift.
"Foxes" pencil (unavailable)
This was done years ago when I was in college. In those days I couldn't afford to buy any Christmas presents so I drew a lot of gifts. This was for my brother.
"Fight to the Finish" pencil (Unavailable)
It is interesting to see old drawings compared to my newer ones and how much I have grown as an artist. This is another one I did in college as a gift.
"Emily" 16x20 pencil (Unavailable)
This was another fun one to draw. It is my niece in her beautiful ballerina attire. I gave it to my older brother.
"Matt" pencil 10x12 SOLD
This was a commissioned work done for the mayor of our town of his son.
"Grandma's Hands" pencil 12x14, Not for sale
This was a very special drawing to do of my Grandma as she crocheted. That was always something she was doing and was noted for all her life, that and her quilting! I told her I wanted to draw her crocheting and she felt flabbergasted because she didn't like her picture taken. I'm so glad I did because not long after this, she had a stroke and forgot how to crochet with the skill she had previously displayed. Then she died at the age of 95, just 2 years after. This is a lovely reminder of my dear Grandma. I miss her terribly.
"The Man in Black" pencil 14x17 SOLD
This drawing was particularly fun to do. I have loved Johnny Cash and his craggy face for many years. I think his face is a road map of the life he has lived and all the wisdom he gained through the trials and successes of being in the spotlight. I loved the deep tones and high contrasts of the lighting in this. I used the cover of TIME magazine from after he died to draw this.
"Grandchildren" pencil 8x10 SOLD
This was a commission work I did for a lady in Wyoming. It is of her cute grandchildren. Fun to do!
